Flider Meets With Local Leaders About Budget Impact

State Rep. Bob Flider met with over 15 local officials yesterday to hear their concerns regarding Governor Quinn’s proposal to make cuts in the Local Government Distributive Fund.  Quinn is proposing taking $300 million in funds ordinarily destined for municipalities and use it to fill the state’s budget gap. For the city of Decatur, that would result in an estimated loss of $1.9 million. . . .this on top of the cuts made to cover the estimated $5 million deficit for the next fiscal year. For Macon County, such a cut would result in a loss of almost $370,000. At the roundtable, Flider was joined by the mayors of Decatur, Sullivan, Arthur, Lovington, Oreana, Moweaqua, and Windsor, as well as county elected officials in the area.
