Congressional Candidate Cahnman Wants No Contact Order Gone

Springfield Alderman and candidate for the 96th State Representative District Sam Cahnman is asking a judge to throw out a no contact order against him.  The State Journal-Register reports Cahnman and his attorney say the order should be dismissed because the 23-year old woman in question did not specify at the time that sexual contact between the two was non-consensual.  The woman’s attorney is asking for the motion to be denied.

The incident dates back to June 2010 when the two parties met at a Springfield bar.  The female reports Cahnman performed sexual acts on her while she was intoxicated.

Settlement negotiations between the two sides have proved unsuccessful so far.  A hearing on the matter is scheduled for February 10th.

The new 96th District includes Decatur, Taylorville, and Springfield.
