Fake ID? Don't Try it Here

Just in time for the Super Bowl, several hundred Decatur bar owners, store owners, employees and local leaders know a whole lot more today about responsible alcohol sales and distribution.  The Illinois Liquor Control Commission along with the Secretary of State’s Office held two free seminars yesterday at the Decatur Civic Center to educate on how to serve alcohol legally, check ID’s, stay within the law with promotions and more.  Secretary of State Police Director Brad DeMuzio says there’s plenty of assistance available from the state for responsible alcohol retailers.
“Super Bowl is one of those weekends, it’s almost a holiday,” says DeMuzio.  “Our primary focus today was to come over and show these people what they need to look for and security features on the driver’s license.  And what we as Secretary of State Police can provide to them through the Illinois Department of Transportation and grants that are awarded to us.  Also what help we can provide to them through the state.”
"Our best message today is, one, don't drink and drive.  Two, we're going to be out and about, you're eventually going to get caught.  And three, to the retailers, if you're not sure about a driver's license or ID, you have all the defenses out there to say, 'you know what, I'm just not going to serve you'."
Illinois licenses have more than a dozen security features to verify validity.  DeMuzio says Super Bowl has become like a holiday, and efforts are stepped up statewide to fight impaired driving that weekend.
