Lt Gov Simon Brings Alcohol Education to Decatur

Alcohol education is hitting home with Decatur's parents and youth.  A town hall meeting on Parental Responsibility and Underage Drinking Prevention was held at the Main Street Church Wednesday and featured discussion from state and local law enforcement and health officials.

Decatur Community Partnership Director Vivian Goodman says awareness has been a priority locally for years, but the message remains vital.

"We have been doing town hall meetings for several years, as long as we've had the Drug-Free Coalition," says Goodman.  "We have not had all the partners at the same time, though, so it's the first time they're promoting their initiative at the same time."

Goodman says that young people have the power to end underage drinking because they can get people to listen to their message.
